Description: Two photographs of St Luke's Anglican Church in Greytown in 1951 (since burnt down). Photographs and 35mm negatives of Bishop Selwyn's tomb in Lichfield Cathedral. The ones of the tomb include the tiling surrounding it which depict New Zealand scenes. These were taken by Andris Berzins & Associates, chartered architects for their client the New Zealand Ministry of Works. Also included are two booklets, one black and white and one colour, about Lichfield Cathedral, and a schedule of the photographs with a map of their locations drawn up by Andris Berzins and Associates. Quantity: 19 colour lantern slide(s). 8 b&w original photographic print(s). 8 b&w original negative(s). Provenance: The photographs of Bishop Selwyn's tomb were taken by Andris Berzins and Associates for the Ministry of Works. The depositor, Chris Cochran, used to work for the Ministry which indicates how came to have the photographs.

Description: Shows house in Nelson rented by Bishop Hobhouse 1859-63. Shows a shingled roof, a long verandah with creeper growing over it, neatly planted garden, circular flower bed. The house is seen from the north (see plan on verso of A-306-004), with the skylighted chapel at left, and the bedrooms belonging to Mr Philpott and Mr Tudor at the right. There is a hatted figure sitting in the window of Mr Philpott's room, and another figure on the verandah. This sketch is virtually identical to those at A-306-005 and A-306-006, but there is less detail. There are numbers added, and a key at the top left, specifying the chapel, roof of bedrooms, over small spare room and drawing room, and the outside bedrooms. According to Shirley Tunnicliffe, it is Mary Hobhouse's writing of the title and key at the top. According to a hand-drawn map deposited at the same time, and probably also drawn by Maria Nicholson, this house was in Grattan Street, in The Wood area of Nelson. Quantity: 1 photocopy/ies. Description: Photographs relating to the family of Rev Basil Kirk Taylor. These are part of a larger collection which includes correspondence to and from members of the Taylor family, mainly Rev Basil Kirke Taylor and his wife Edith. There is a typeset letter from Rev Richard Taylor to his daughter Laura, 1847. Diaries and notebooks, mainly kept by Rev Basil Kirke Taylor, although the earliest ones were kept by Rev Richard Taylor and his wife Caroline. The diaries of Basil Taylor record his time in England before ordination, and later when he joined his father at the Wanganui Mission, and up until his premature death in 1876. The privately printed reminiscences of Richard Basil Taylor, the grandson of Rev Basil Taylor, entitled `Family recollections'. These memoirs give details of his missionary forebears, as well as describing his diplomatic career and own family. Description: At the top, two drawings of Otago chief Hohare Korako Karetai in court. He wears a traditional cloak, and holds a staff in his right hand. A smaller side view of a white-bearded European man in a top hat and spats, possibly a bishop, is between the two images of Karetai. Below is a drawing of a small steamer, probably in Otago Harbour The Otago Daily Times of 1 May 1894 reported William Mathew Hodgkins as representing 'Hohare Korako Karetai and Mary Karetai v James and Bathia Pickering. There is a cabbage tree at the left, near the chapel. Attributed to Rev Codrington on stylistic grounds (see treatment of roof surface and foliage in his "Waipapa, Clarence, Jan 24, 1863" - copy in D & P file print drawers). Mary Hobhouse also mentions in a letter of early 1860(?), that "I send you 2 sketches done ... from drawings Mr Codrington took of the 2 sides of this queer house". According to a hand-drawn map deposited at the same time, and probably drawn by Maria Nicholson, this house was in Grattan Street, in The Wood area of Nelson. Quantity: 1 watercolour(s).
