Mr. Albert Fishburn, of Petone, who this week was presented with the Royal Humane Society's silver medal for saving the life of an elderly man off the Petone foreshore on April 28. The presentation was made by the Mayor of Wellington, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, who is vice-president of the society. (Evening Post, 05 October 1940)

The shelter is made in the. Borough Tube Tunnel, ivhich was built in 1892, and has been adapted at a cost of £50,000. (Evening Post, 21 August 1940)
