The Governor-General unveiling a bronze commemorative tablet in the main banking chamber of the Union Bank of Australia, Lambton Quay, yesterday afternoon, to mark the centennial of the commencement of the bank's business in New Zealand. The tablet will later be placed on the Featherston Street frontage of the bank. Beside the table are the Hon. W. Nash, Minister of Finance, and Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, Mayor of Wellington. Evening Post" Photo. ■■ ornamental radio cabinet made entirely of New Zealand woods which is being exhibited in the Canterbury section of the Dominion Court at the Centennial Exhibition. The cabinet, which contains about eighty varieties of wood, was made in his spare time by Mr? W.Platt, or Northland, Wellington, Mr. R. G. Eves, appointed official war artist with the British Expeditionary Force in France. He is one of Britain's foremost painters, and is a member of the Royal Academy, Royal Society of Portrait Painters, and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. (Evening Post, 08 March 1940)
