Description

Medal obverse shows a profile portrait head of Queen Victoria facing left, by Benjamin Wyon. The reverse shows a scene of shipwreck survivors attracting the attention of a lifeboat.

This medal was awarded to George Edmonds for his part in saving life from the wreck of the "Admella" (wrecked on a voyage from Adelaide to Melbourne off Cape Northumberland, 6 August 1859).

Inscription on leather case spells the recipient's name as "Edmunds".
