Cartoons, portraits, incidents in life as a prisoner of war at Oflag 79 at Braunschweig (Brunswick) in Germany. The first drawing is a self-portrait. Includes MS notes of names and addresses of fellow prisoners, words of songs, ration lists

Pages [77-81] contain names and address of South African prisoners

Page [82] contains names and addresses of Canadian prisoners (with Indian head, maple leaf and beaver)

Pages [83-84] contain names and addresses of American prisoners

Pages [85-87] contain names and addresses of English prisoners (with pink rose)

Pages [88-89] contain names and address of Scottish, Ceylonese and Indian prisoners (with Scottish thistle)

Page [90] contains names and addresses of Irish prisoners, with shamrock leaves

Pages [92-93] contain names and addresses of Australian prisoners (with a young woman framed in wattle flowers and leaves)

Pages [96-99] contain names and addresses of New Zealand prisoners (with a drawing of a Maori girl and fern)

In the first half of the book, reference numbers for each page follow the printed numbering of the book, but in the centre, several other pages are inserted, thus altering the reference numbering of following pages in the last half of the book.

Description: Shows a man ostentatiously lighting a cigarette in front of two jealous onlookers. In the background, a figure paces, and another crawls. Written commentary on the facing page says: "In the subsequent crises, Feby/March 1945, cigs and tobacco reached the fantastic level of 70 stg per 100 cigs or 4oz tobacco. Goon rye & potato bread 20-25 stg per 1500 gram (approx 3 1/4 lbs) loaf! A Capone and J Diamond were nice kindly characters compared to some of the gentry hereabouts!"
