Gray, George Duncan Dunbar, 1906-1977

New Zealander, resident in Grant Road, Wellington, 1940s, and in Matakana, Auckland by 1976, when he donated his wartime sketchbook to the Library. He served with the Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment in North Africa, where he was captured by enemy forces in November 1941. Was a prisoner of war in Modena, Italy, 1941-1944 and in Braunschweig, Germany, 1944-1945. Died in 1977 aged 70 years [Source: Online historical BDM]
