Description

Lantern slides of New Zealand landscapes, holiday scenes, and gardens taken by unidentified photographers, probably during the 1930s-1950s. Some have printed captions giving the location or subject.

The images include:

- Views of Mt Cook and of the Franz Josef Glacier, along with image of crevasses. Also images of skiing, including kea bird perching on upright skis.

- Landscapes seen through windows above the altars of two churches: the Church of the Good Shepherd (Lake Tekapo) and St James Church (Waiho Gorge, near Franz Josef).

- Scenes in Queenstown, including of the lakefront and the yacht `Kelvin' at the wharf, St Peter's Church, and looking over Lake Wakatipu to The Remarkables.

- Images probably taken elsewhere in Central Otago, including a stone post office and other buildings; lake with boats [Lake Wanaka?]; a hillside flower garden; flower beds and gardens; and informal group portraits of children.

- Views of flowers, gardens, or trees in Tauranga, Rotorua, and unidentified locations.

- Exterior views of Canterbury Museum and Arts Centre in Christchurch.
