There are various sequences as follows: Museum trip to Lake Waikaremoana, December 1946; Holiday trip in 1937 which included Mohaka, Lake Waikaremoana and Urewera Country; Cass-Torlesse biological trip, February 1936; South Island trip, March 1939; and a Southern Lakes and Hollyford Valley trip in January 1940. The holiday trip in 1937 includes photographs of the Mohaka Viaduct under construction. At the beginning of the album a photograph shows Lake Waikaremoana after 21 years of deterioration due to state Electricity Department actions. This image was taken in January 1958, from approximately the same spot as one taken in February 1937. The Cass-Torlesse biological trip includes an image of "vegetable sheep" (page 48). Description: Photographs of a group of men and women on a walking tour in the area of Mount Cook, Tasman Glacier, and the Malte Brun Hut. Photographs taken by Algernon Charles Gifford. This album appears to be linked with Gifford Albums 2, 5, 6 and 7. An undated article Gifford wrote for the Oamaru Mail entitled `To Mount Cook by motor car', is pasted in the back of Gifford Album 2. The article talks about a group travelling by car to Mount Cook, and then tramping in the mountains in the area. This album shows the party travelling in two Darracq automobiles, while the other albums show the party in the mountains, mountain views, the group crossing the Tasman Glacier, and relaxing at various spots on the way, including at Ball Hut and Malte Brun Hut. Description: Alpine views in the South Island, taken by Miss Joachim (nos. 1-19) and Miss Theomin (nos. 20-50). There are two North Island views taken by Miss Joachim (Papakura Geyser (no. 2), and Mokoia Island in Lake Rotorua (no. 9)). Included in this box is a two-page letter to "Mr. Kennedy" signed by Dorothy Theomin. She starts off "I am always so very [proud when you think any of my films are worth turning into slides that I feel the "kindness" is all on your side for the honour you do me in using them...". She also refers to Peter Graham, Mr. Chas. Buchanan and a Mrs. Bickerton. There are also two pages, partially in Miss Theomin's hand-writing, describing a few of her images, though the numbering system in these notes, the pencilled numbers (possibly given by W. A.
