Two cartoons by Tom Scott and Trace Hodgson from the Drawing the Line exhibition for the Ministry of External Relations and Trade, 1989. Scott's cartoon is on the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi. Hodgson's cartoon is a caricature of Sir Ron Brierley as the god of moneymaking.
'Drawing the Line: Cartoons across the Tasman' was an exhibition of cartoons by New Zealand cartoonists about Australian issues and the relationship between New Zealand and Australia, curated by Ian F. Grant for the New Zealand Ministry of External Relations and Trade. The exhibition toured Australian cities in 1989.

Description: Cartoon depicting the moment immediately following the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi. Two groups are walking away from the signing table - one a group of Māori and the other a group of European settlers. One of the settlers comments, "Well done, Hobson, with a bit of luck we'll never hear about fishing rights or land claims ever again".
