Description

Murie describes Joosten's life since he came to New Zealand from Schleswig-Holstein about 1885, his subsequent career and the establishment of the company, Joosten and Murie, in 1907. Although naturalised in 1893, Joosten's life changed in 1918 when he was arrested as an alien and interned on Somes Island in 1918. Murie has supplied background information about Joosten and has used extracts from files held by National Archives to elaborate on the problems Joosten endured.
