The journey begins at Palmerston North and includes Hawke's Bay, Gisborne and the Bay of Plenty. The van follows State Highway two with frequent deviations from it into various back block localities. Another section of the journey is from Wairoa to Taupo via Lake Waikaremoana and the Kaingaroa Forest. Children as library users and at some of the schools where the van stops are featured. There are a number of photos of the power houses at Kaitawa, Tuai, and Piripaua
