Photograph album containing photographs of Luxor and Samoa during World War I
Views in Egypt include ancient sites at Luxor, Karnak and Thebes, and one of water buffalo by the Nile.
The second part of the album starts with a view of the harbour at Noumea showing a number of warships in the distance which are named as HMS Australia, HMS Melbourne, HMS Psyche, HMS Philomel, HMS Pyramus, and the French warship Montcalm.
Most of the images in the second part relate to the arrival of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force in Apia, Samoa; the surrender of Samoa by Germany; group portraits of many of the British and New Zealand officers involved in the takeover (most of whom are identified by surname); and scenes of life in Samoa.

Photographed by Alfred James Tattersall Often the name Faumuina only is used in histories of Samoa. So I have been unable to establish whether this is Mata'afa Faumuina Fiame Mulinu'u 1 who was associated with the formation of the Mau movement, or his father, or someone completely different.
