Description

Two Maori children and a Pakeha child at Kaikohe Native School. The Pakeha child is Mary Fay Lowe, aged four years. They sit alongside a blackboard covered in chalk drawings and the 2 times table. Taken by H R Vine, circa 20 March 1940.

Mary Fay Lowe was the only Pakeha child at Kaikohe Native School. She was the daughter of the headmaster Joseph E Lowe, who held that position between 1935-1945.
