Description: A greeting card from Hays Department store in Christchurch. The front cover shows a coloured photograph of one of the floats in the Canterbury Centennial floral procession (1950?), with a crown and orb on a red cushion, the whole float composed of flowers. The back cover shows a calendar for July 1953-June 1954. From the Te Ara website: “Canterbury's centennial celebrations in the summer of 1950–51 featured two celebratory processions. The first was '100 years of progress', which was a historical pageant. The second was a floral procession reflecting Canterbury's pride in the fertility of its soil and Christchurch's identity as the garden city. The 2012 ceremony was to be led by Shree Shreeman Naginbhai Neil Gelabhai Patel, and deputy mayor Ian McKinnon was the Master of Ceremonies. Other participants were Naliniben Naginbhai Patel, Mayr Celia Wade-Brown, High Commissioner Sanjay Verm, NZ First MP Asenati Lole-Taylor. Description: Invitation card with embossed border, to the Citizens' reception to the Premier in the Wellington Town Hall on the 61st anniversary of his birthday, and to welcome him home from Australia. The chairman for the event was to be Dr W E Collins, and the honorary secretary was W J Culver. Seddon died on 10 June 1906, and the planned Citizens' Reception did not take place. Identified people include: Henry Coleridge Hitchcock, Virginia, Ngaire, Nancy, Christine, André, Denise, Joan, Ned, Marilyn, Teresa, Auntie Rose, Barry, Rob, Lisa, and Christopher. Identified locations include: Palmerston North, Ngaio, Eastbourne, Raumatai, Zurich, Bolton Street Cemetery, and Sandspit Motor Camp, Warkworth. Title supplied by Library. Arrangement: From box 6 in the donor listing. Many of the prints and some of the negatives arrived at the Library grouped together in commercial photographic print envelopes. Transfers: 35mm-107838 to 35mm-107839 and 35mm-107880 to 35mm-107899 separated to facilitate appropriate storage.. Processing information: Many of the prints were received by the Library grouped together in commercial photographic print envelopes. This grouping has been retained with prints being rehoused by Library staff into acid-free enclosures that reflect their original order. Annotations from the original commercial print envelopes were transcribed onto the new Library enclosures. The original envelopes were retained when they included a large amount of metadata. Some prints were originally housed with negatives which were separated to facilitate appropriate storage.
