Description

Photographs taken circa 1950-1989 of Jock McEwen as Secretary of Island Territories and Resident Commissioner of Nuie; as a dignitary at the 1965 Commonwealth Parilamentary Conference in Wellington; and as Secretary of Māori Affairs attending Waitangi Celebrations. Includes two colour photographs of New Zealand government ministers and dignitaries, circa 1980s. One of the photographs includes Jock McEwen.

Also contains photographs of Māori gatherings and anniversaries at Tanenuiarangi meeting house at Maungapohatu; Tūrangawaewae marae in Ngāruawāhia; Te Tokanganui a noho marae in Te Kūiti; Māori kapa haka groups entertaining dignitaries at the 1965 Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Wellington; and kapa haka performers rehearsing for Waitangi Day celebrations.

Some of the images are annotated on the reverse, and a number of images have been taken by the New Zealand National Publicity Studios of Wellington.

Also enclosed is a letter addressed to Jock McEwen, relating to photographs of the 1965 Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Wellington.
