Arrangement: Each negative and accompanying print were together in glassine bags, and transparencies were individually stored in glassine bags, arranged in largely alphabetical order by name of farm or station in a wooden drawer, in a sequence labelled "Accommodation". Bags were labelled with the farm or station name and type of building on the left-hand side of the bag and the location on the right-hand side. Some bags held negatives without corresponding prints.

Physical Description: Colour and black and white photographic negatives and prints, and colour transparencies.
Transfers: Prints separated from the negatives are at Library reference PAColl-10686-01. Transparencies are at Library references PA12-3783 to PA12-3785. Negatives are at Library references 1/4-132733 to 1/4-132845, and 35mm-109276 to 35mm-109278..
Processing information: Negatives and transparencies were separated from the prints and rehoused for reasons of preservation and appropriate storage.

Description: Photographic contact prints of farm and station accommodation buildings in the North and South Islands of New Zealand, taken by Geoffrey or Jocelyn Thornton. Buildings include men's quarters, shearers' quarters, cookhouses, bakehouses, and cottages built for workers such as rabbitters, musterers, and boundary keepers. Many prints are labelled on the reverse; some are numbered; some have been marked up as if for publication. There are often several images of the same building from different perspectives. Title supplied by Library. Arrangement: Prints were together with corresponding negatives in labelled glassine bags, arranged in largely alphabetical order by name of farm or station, in a small wooden drawer in a sequence labelled "Accommodation". Bags were labelled with the farm or station name and type of building on the lefthand side of the bag and the location on the righthand side. Numbering on some of the prints does not correspond to the order of the glassine bags in the drawer. Quantity: 105 b&w original photographic print(s). 6 colour original photographic print(s).
