McCafferty, Jeanie, 1957-: Photographs and postcards of Guide Rangi

Photographs and postcards, mostly commercial images circa 1920s to 1960s, some with annotations. Photographers mainly unidentified.

Showing scenes around Whakarewarewa, Rotorua District, including Waikite, Pohutu, and Papakura geysers. One image shows the exterior of the wharenui Wahiao.

Many images of Rangitiaria Dennan (known as Guide Rangi). One image of Dennan and a man who is carving a wooden post is annotated "Guide Rangi and grandfather". In many images Dennan is posing next to pataka, waharoa, or wharenui. Two images show other unidentified guides.

Two images are adhered to either side of a piece of cardboard (one with an annotation "Fairy Springs 1927") and accompanied by a note from the donor that reads "Taken by a member of the visiting Dorly Carte Opera Co UK on 1927 tour of N.Z." [sic].

Also contains one annotated postcard with an image of Richard John Seddon, postmarked 1906.
