Description

Postcards show:

- New Zealand troops in battledress either disembarking, or embarking from motor lorries under the caption "Anzacs in France - Off to the trenches" [1917?],

- Informal group portrait of soldiers captioned "Crossing the Rimutakas 1916", with Cyril Woolnough identified by a cross,

- View of "New Zealand Hospital, Auxiliary, Oatlands, Surrey",

- Group portrait of trainees at "Tidworth School Bayonet Class 4/3/18", with J H Pittams identified by a cross,

- Windsor Castle, dated 30/1/17, with a note on the reverse: "This card and the pass was when I went to the Castle and this P.C. was given to me by Princess Alice - Harry". The writer was probably Joseph Henry Pittams.

Provenance: Donated by Ivy Runciman, Taumurunui, 1986. The postcards were found after a death in the family. Joseph Henry Pittams' was the donor's brother.
