Interview with Leon Nevin born 1934 in Auckland. Recalls shifting to Christchurch as a child. Discusses leaving school at 15 years old and buying his first bicycle. Mentions joining the Air Force and working for the Railways. Describes how owning a bike changed his outlook on life. Talks about his passion for collecting and restoring old bicycles when he retired from the Railways. Mentions other collectors including Keith Guthrie and Paul Farren. Describes learning to restore old bicyles. Mentions other restorers including Robin William and Gavin Bain. Gives a history and development of bicycles in New Zealand. Discusses this in relation to particular bicycles in his own collection, including velocipedes and penny farthings, safety bicycles, roadster bicycles, sports bicycles, and 10-speed bicyles. Mentions particular bicycles in his collection previously owned by famous New Zealand cyclists, including Dick Cheyne.
