Adah Cohen was born in Auckland in 1900. Gives details of her family background. Describes how her father, Maurice Copeland, was a Jew who had left Poland for religious reasons. Describes being the third of five children. Talks about where they lived in Auckland, schooling, subjects taught, school sports and other childhood memories. Recalls the opening of the Grafton Bridge. Discusses attending training college, despite her father's opposition, and meeting husband Tom. Describes the old wooden training college building. Talks about marrying in 1924 and moving to a house in Helensville with no conveniences or electricity. Recalls the birth of her children Pam and Peter, early years in Helensville, involvement with Plunket, fundraising and an active social life. Talks about the district nurse, Nurse Hall, the Plunket nurse, Nurse Paora and local Maori women. Describes being active at the school and the opening of the golf club. Recalls several overseas trips, involvement with yoga and celebrating her seventieth wedding anniversary.
