Description

Photographs relating to Pearson's service during World War II, including scenes in Cairo, the Pyramids, the sphinx, agriculture and everyday lives of the locals; the swimming pool at the Alamein club; a group of soldiers camping by the Arno river; scenes in Rome and Florence; and the Scuola Aeronatica building where the Jayforce were housed prior to leaving for Japan. Most are views of local people and places but there is one of Pearson with Bob Platt on leave from Maadi, Pearson with army personnel at the NAAFI Club in Rome, and relaxing by Lake Timsah, Egypt

Pearson sailed from New Zealand with the 15th Reinforcements, arriving in Cairo after the war was over. Pearson was transferred to the Postal Corps and and accepted in to the Jayforce. The first contingent for the Jayforce was formed in Florence in Nov 1945 and sailed for Japan in Feb 1946.
