Collection comprises:
Two soldier's pay books, 20 March 1917-5 September 1918 and 28 September 1918-11 November 1919; ration booklet; an army pass, granting Henry leave from, midnight 25 Jan 1919 to midnight 25 Feb 1919 for the purpose of visiting Paris and two cards (Neptune ceremony on board the ship Maunganui HMNZT 86 and Lord Mayor of Birmingham welcome card).

Herbert Henry left New Zealand with the 26th Reinforcements for the New Zealand Expeditionary Force in June 1917. He served as a rifleman in the New Zealand Mounted Rifles Brigade and saw action on the Western Front, 1917-1918. A flute player, he was also a member of the Diggers - New Zealand Divisional Pierrots.
