Description

A hut on the left, in a tropical setting with palm trees and the sea in the distance. A preacher stands in front of a low table, possibly giving communion - he is raising something above his head. Around him is seated a large circle of European and local people, beyond a circle of bowls of burning oil. A group of local people in European dress is seated on a mat within the circle. The scene may be somewhere in Africa, rather than in Hawaii.

Probably used as an illustration for lecture tours. Likely to have been copied from a book illustration of the period
