Description: Slides relating to the Lutheran Church of New Zealand, chiefly taken circa 1950s-1960s by unidentified photographers. Contains slides of Lutheran Church buildings around New Zealand. These include interior and exterior shots of churches in Dannevirke, Marton, Halcombe, Mauriceville West, Upper Moutere, Crummer Road (Grey Lynn), Christchurch, Hamilton, and Palmerston North, as well as manse in Palmerston North and Auckland. Some church locations are unidentified. Reverend N Shultz is photographed with members of Hamilton's Estonian community in traditional dress and there are images of unidentified congregants. Miscellaneous images include Mrs Eckert playing cricket, a cake stall, Auckland Museum exterior, and scenic shot of Mount Lyttle (photographed by N Hatwell). Description: Transparencies show air shows at Ohakea Aerodrome dated 29 March 1958 (Royal New Zealand Air Force 21st Anniversary Air Show) and February 1964, and the opening of Wellington Airport at Rongotai, October 1959. Also the crowd at Athletic Park during the Billy Graham Crusade 30 March to 6 April 1959. Taken by Ron Potts. Air show photographs include two United States Air Force planes (a Globemaster and a Republic F-105 Thunderchief), unidentified aircraft, crowds, and parked cars. Title supplied by Library. Description: Shows the pastor walking past the Y.M.C.A. building in which he conducts religious services. A shining lamp hangs from the building. The pastor, who wears sandals and a straw hat with his cassock, is followed by a phalanx of soldiers wearing gasmasks and carrying rifles. A captain salutes the pastor. A nurse stands in the background. The faces of both the pastor and the captain appear to be caricatures of real people. The cartoon appears to be poking fun at aspects of army life. Description: Cartoon at the top left entitled `Nature and art', shows a man talking to a young boy with a dog. Extended caption reads - Pedestrian, "That's an extraordinary looking dog, my boy. What do you call him?". Boy - "Fust of all he wer' a grey'ound, Sir, an' 'is name was `Fly', an' then they cut 'is ears an' tail off, an' made a masti' dog on 'im, an' now 'is name's `Lion'!". Engraver's initials - C.K. Cartoon at the top right entitled `Cousinly affection', shows two men fishing. One man is holding a rod while the other is taking the hook out of the mouth of a recently-caught fish. Extended caption reads - Jim (who has taken his cousin Jack fishing for the first time), "Now, Tom, just put your finger in, and loosen that fourth hook." Cartoon at bottom left entitled `Intelligent pet', shows a small boy talking to his mother as they leave church.
