Description

A depiction of a globe, with Cook's tracks marked in red, showing the Pacific, with a star above and below, against a blue shield. Below the shield are the words "Nil intentatum reliquit" on a banner. The shield is surrounded by blue and gold scrolls and surmounted with the visored helmet from a suit of armour. Above the helmet is a wreath of a twist of blue and gold and green leaves, with and without red berries, from which rises an arm clad in British naval uniform blue. The hand is holding a Union Jack and the words "Circa Orbem" appear on a pink banner behind the flag.

Provenance: Commissioned by the National Film Unit in 1968 for a bicentennial film on Cook, produced 1969. Made (or designed?) by the York Herald of Arms for the film.
