George Denton - War diary and description of a trip to Sydney

`Diary of Herbert Denton, 27th Mounted Rifles (later Wellington Mounted Rifles) , May 1917 - April 1919' (transcribed by Margaret Denton, 1993-1994). The diary contains a detailed account of Denton's war experiences in the Palestine Campaign from the time he sailed from Wellington on 31 May 1917 until his return home to Levin, 22 April 1919. As well as describing his participation in the fighting against Turkish forces he also describes visiting places of interest in Egypt and Palestine. Also contains a diary written by Denton recording a New Zealand Returned Services Association trip to Sydney, 19-28 April 1938 to commemorate ANZAC day.
