Description

Album compiled by the Railway Action Committee of the Nelson Provincial Progress League to illustrate the need for there to be action over the neglected Nelson to Glenhope railway

Part one shows scenes of railway decay; part two is scenes on the "borrowed" line from Glenhope to Gowanbridge; the third part shows areas where hydro-electric schemes and supplies of timber for power would enable the railway line to be fully built and developed.

Quantity: 1 album(s) Album(s).

Physical Description: Album 18 x 23 cm blue board covers, entitled "A wasting asset. New Zealand's oldest railway. Views not suitable for tourist publications"

Provenance: The letters accompanying the album indicate that it was sent to the Prime Minister by the Mayor of Nelson, J A Harley, on behalf of the Railway Action Committee. Presumably the PM's Department passed it on to the National Library (and from them to Turnbull).
