Description

Coverage of this topographic map is of the area to the west of the mountain called Gebel Shaquaqa, a plateau with steep cliffs on the northern side. Wadis and other dry water courses are named. The road from Matruh to Sidi Haneish is overprinted in brown, and alongside it is marked the railway with telephone line. Tracks are marked, including one to Qattara and a railway shown is under construction. Wells and cisterns are marked and referred to in a key, as are numerous landmarks. Topographic features are described. Includes contours. A glossary is provided to explain the many romanised Arabic names. Includes an index to adjoining sheets.
