Shows a draft form of a certificate eventually issued to soldiers of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. At the right a soldier signs a book held on the lap of Britannia, while a pride of lions sit at her feet. At the left is a warship, and Maori motifs including carved house posts. At centre left is an inset picture of a lake, waka, whare and mountain.
