Description

View of a curved bay, with houses along the water's edge under palm trees, with bush-covered hills behind. There is one substantial larger house or church at the water's edge. Two figures paddle a small boat with outrigger in the centre foreground, and there is a boat with a sail at the right.

A church at Huahine (perhaps the building seen on the foreshore in this scene) is mentioned in the account of the voyage of the ship "Collingwood" on which the artist sailed. See "Four years in the Pacific", by Lieut. the Honourable Fred Walpole (London, 1849), Volume 2, page 167.
