Description

Two Maori in front of an unidentified raupo meeting house. The seated woman is wearing European clothes and a Hei Tiki; the man standing beside her is also in European clothes. The building is thatched completely (roof and walls). There is a cross above the koruru (carved head ornamenting the front gable); there is no carving on the maihi (facing boards on the front gable), but the raparapa (projecting portion of the maihi) is carved. A bush-clad hill is visible behind the meeting house. Photographed by Albert Percy Godber.
