The story of Clytie Curfew Howie, born Christchurch, the daughter of Robert Howie and Frances Eva nee Taylor. Her parents divorced after ten years of marriage and along with her mother she went to live with her grandfather James Taylor. She married George Dickinson in 1929, and the couple had three children before George's death by suicide. She remarried Jonathan Mann
