Description

On the left, a buddhist priest holding a sun umbrella is being offered food by a woman outside her house in Kandy, Ceylon. The frame of the picture is decorated with flowers of a climber.

On the left: The caves near Moulmein, Rangoon. View from inside the cave looking out to the plain below, showing a buddha and stupa at the entrance. The frame is decorated with a sprig of [frangipani?] on the upper lefthandside

The left-hand view was published without the square frame and flower decoration as a wood engraving in The last voyage. Annie Brassey, 1887, page 99, without a title. The right-hand view was published as a chromolithograph chapter-heading entitled Rangoon on page 119.
