Description

A lone rider in the desert on which lie bodies of horses killed during the battle of Katia. Photographed by an unknown photographer between the 6th and 12th of August 1916.

The advance on Katia began on the 5th of August 1916 as part of the campaign to drive the Turkish army out of Egypt. It resulted in the Turkish withdrawl to El Arish which was about 4 1/2 kms from the Egyptian/Palestine boarder.
