Contain the administrative records of the Society. These include extensive correspondence and subject files arranged alphabetically by correspondent or topic that cover all aspects of the Society's operations. Also included are Executive Committee minute books, financial records, papers relating to membership, papers relating to the Society's local administration, publicity material and scrapbooks of cuttings. In addition there are papers relating to individual members of the Society including a notebook and a diary of tramps by Sydney Berg; `Observations concerning some species of New Zealand birds' by H H Travers; two autobiographical accounts by A H Gibson and papers of Perrine Moncrieff, including correspondence, notes, 1933 accounts of trips to Stephens Island, articles and clippings. Includes recordings of Forest and Bird Society radio talks titled 'San Michele,' 'Forests,' 'Conservation of Wildlife,' 'Insects and Man,' 'Plant Eating Animals,' and 'NZ Native Birds'.

The Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society was founded in 1923 through the efforts of Val Sanderson. It was initially called the Native Bird Protection Society. It is now called just Forest and Bird.
