Martin Ashton Eccles was a trooper in the 9th Squadron, Wellington Mounted Rifles, New Zealand Brigade, ANZAC Mounted Division. He departed New Zealand in June 1915 with reinforcements for the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. After being stationed in Egypt for several months he briefly served in Gallipoli in Nov-Dec 1915. He then served in Palestine for the remainder of the war.

Description: In Feb 1915 Eccles enlisted in the Army and sailed for Egypt in June. After being based at Camp he briefly served in the Gallipoli Campaign during Nov and Dec, 1915. The diary contains intermittent entries, with no entries being made when nothing of interest to the writer was happening. Accompanied by Certificate of Discharge, 28 Aug 1919 and printed certificate awarding the the Gallipoli Medallion and the Gallipoli lapel badge to Eccles. Quantity: 1 volume(s).
