Photographs by James Ring of: Hokitika wharf and bar - showing the surrounding shops and commercial buildings, Wade & Spence, Pollock & Bevan and the Belfast Hotel; a horse drawn tram on the Greymouth to Kumara tramway; a row of houses in Greymouth looking towards Cobden Hill; looking west over Greymouth with an ironmongers in the centre of the town; sluicing at Humphrey's Gully No.1 face - a single jet of water aimed at a rock face; and looking across the river towards Brunnerton with coal wagons on a railway in the foreground, the Brunner bridge on the right, and the shops F McParland and J Taylor amongst the houses.
