Description

This is section 6 out of 8 sections, painted onto 9 pinex panels

Painted for the Friends of the Soviet Union by Judy Evans and her father Guy Harding. Hung in the Unity Centre, Wellington. Known as the Harding murals for many years, however discussions with Judy Evans made it clear that she devised the murals and carried out most of the painting, with assistance from her father.

Inspired by the work of Diego Rivera.

Physical Description: Tempera on pinex panel, 1220 x 1500 mm

Provenance: Painted and displayed as murals for the walls of the Unity Centre, Cuba Street. Later removed and stored in a garage for many years.

Originals not available for viewing because of their extremely fragile condition. Any movement may cause further losses.

Alternative form available: Negative 1/2-C-027603 and transparency DCT-10230 show the work after the completion of conservation in 2004
