Description

Eleven albums of photographs compiled or held by the Parliamentary Library. The albums include:

- 'New Zealand portraits' volumes 1 and 2, containing named portraits of Members of Parliament and Governors General and their wives, and significant New Zealanders, in alphabetical order, possibly compiled in the 1940s;

- 'New Zealand Journey: a photographic record of the Royal Visit to NZ 1953-54' volumes 1 and 2, captioned in chronological sequence;

- 'Royalty in New Zealand 1953-54: Maori receptions', with detailed captions;

- An album labelled '27 July 1941' containing photographs of Prime Minister Peter Fraser's visit to an aircraft factory, possibly in England;

- an album containing photographs of a New Zealand parliamentary delegation to Indonesia;

- two albums of visits by Walter Nash to Moscow and Indonesia in 1959.

- two albums of official visits to Japan of Walter Nash, 1959 and Keith Holyoake, 1965, presented by the Government of Japan.

Description: Album containing photographs of Māori receptions for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip on the royal tour of New Zealand in 1953-1954, taken by unknown photographers. Includes receptions in Waitangi, Ngaruawahia, and Rotorua, and contains many photographs of various iwi performing action songs and haka, as well as powhiri and wero. Most photographs have captions. Also includes photographic copies of the address from "the Māori Race" to the Queen read by the Minister of Māori Affairs at Rotorua, and the Queen's reply, and a photograph of the gifts given to the royal couple by Māori. Description: Photograph album with photographs taken by unknown photographers, possibly official Indonesian photographers, of a visit to Indonesia by Prime Minister Walter Nash in 1963. The photographs show Sir Walter and Indonesian hosts at various occasions and meetings. The front tissue page of the album has the Indonesian coat of arms, and the page beneath has an inscription in Indonesian, transcribed by Library staff: "Gemoga photophoto ini mendjadi kenangkenang an indah selama kundjungan Gaudara ki Indonesia. Djakarta 15 s/d 19 Nopemb 1959 | Departemen Penerangan Republik Indonesia". each photograph has a stamped number, and there is a typescript list of the photographs in Indonesian, at the front of the album.
