Description: A version of the drawing by Dodd, but the image is reversed. Shows a scene in which Captain Cook has already been killed, and is being dragged away from the water's edge by two Hawaiian men, in a face-down position. He appears to be dressed entirely in white. A number of Hawaiians seem to be fighting over the dagger with which he has been stabbed. Cook's men, on board a rowboat just offshore, are helping others who have fled the scene into the boat. Description: Shows an allegorical representation with a bust of Cook in the foreground, with three cupids playing around it. A female figure points up a hill in the scene to a temple of Fame. A number of books and scrolls are scattered on the ground, bearing the names J Caesar, Charles XII, and Alexander. Another female figure sits forlornly in the shadows.
