Many of the photographs are of Rhoda and Frederick McWhannell's Ōhaupō homestead 'Rozel' and their nursery where they mostly grew eucalyptus varieties.

Description: Collection of photographs created and probably taken by Rhoda McWhannell, from the time of her marriage to Frederick McWhannell. The first scene shows them on their honeymoon, at One Tree Hill in Auckland, on 13th November 1922. From there they go to Whangarei, with views of the Whangarei Hospital, men playing tennis, a group of three men and a woman entitled `The foundations of "Fairview" Onerahi', and Whangarei Falls. Following Whangarei are a number of views of Russell, including the jetty and `The Gables', and the yacht `Kitty fraser'. Later in November they reach the Coromandel Peninsula, and photographs include Cyril Cory-Wright in the launch `Eilepa', and a photograph of Mrs Cory-Wright with her children Patsy and Derek; and the Reverend Norrie (minister of the Coromandel Peninsula). The next group of photographs show Mrs Shires, and scenes of sheep mustering at `Oruru', Kaitieke in the King Country. At the front of the album is an envelope with mostly unidentified people, taken much later, most of them being coloured. Also inserted in the album is a newspaper cutting from the Herald (Section 2, Wednesday 13 June 1984), on a young couple (Tony and Sue Clark) who had managed to create a successful farm from very rough hill country on the Kawhautahi Road, near Kaitieke. Description: Scenic views of Cambridge, the lake at Hamilton, Puketeraki, Piha, and the farm `Rozel' near Ohaupo, interspersed with portraits of family and friends, chiefly taken by Rhoda McWhannell. One photograph shows Rhoda McWhannell's parents (William Duncan Ross McCurdie and Olga Mariquita McCurdie) reading congratulatory messages on their Golden Wedding Anniversary. This album gives the date as 1942, but a previous album gives it as 1941. Rex Hamilton, Bill Hewett and Frederick McWhannell are photographed in military uniform. Description: Album of photographs of family and friends probably taken by Rhoda McWhannell. They include a sequence at the beginning of the wedding of Brian Stewart Geddes, and Audrey Marion (nee Hopkins), on 14th May 1945. Their family, especially their daughters Elizabeth Anne, and Jane Margaret, are photographed as babies, and as they grow. Scenic views include the Gisborne region; and Kawau Island, with a large group in Mr McDowell's party, deep-sea fishing from a launch, showing their catch of hapuka A group of women from the Women's War service Auxiliary at Katikati are seen in two images; and a meeting house at Katikati. Description: Family photographs, chiefly taken by Rhoda McWhannell, many taken at `Rozel', the farm she and her husband Frederick McWhannell owned near Ohaupo. A large number of images show Audrey Hopkins (later Geddes) at Rozel, with animals including ducks, hens and dogs, swimming in the water tank, and with Brian Geddes (later her husband). Four images show a military tank "T27626", with "Galatos" on the turret, at an unidentified location. A group portrait of officers at Waiouru in 1941, and several photographs of Frederick McWhannell, Frank Bethwaite and Neva Morrison wearing military uniform in the early 1940s. None of the people shown are identified; some of the scenes were taken at `Rozel' the home of Frederick and Rhoda McWhannell. Rhoda McWhannell's brother Bill and his wife Inga are identified from another album in the McWhannell sequence (at PA1-q-276). A number of holiday snapshots are taken in the Taupo, Wairakei area, with one view of thermal steam vents at Wairakei, and several of the Waikato River and the Huka Falls. Description: Album of photographs chiefly taken by Rhoda McWhannell. The first part of the album covers a trip Mrs McWhannell took overseas in 1980, travelling to Russia, England, China, India, Kashmir and South Africa. The travel images include scenes in St. Petersburg and Petrodvorets (Russia); with friends in Bramshott (England); in Peking, with Xie Feng, Professor of ornamental plants at Peking, Joy Lee, and Hazel Le Rougetel (writer of books on roses and gardens); scenes at a famous garden which includes bonsai trees, "Zhuo-Zheng Yuan" or "The Humble Administrator's Garden", Suchow (i.e. Suzhou) China; the Taj Mahal, Rajasthan, amd Fatehpur Sikri in India; scenes in Srinigar, including Lake Dal (Kashmir); and photographs of her brother (Bill McCurdie and sister-in-law Inga McCurdie and their daughter Kirsten taken in New Zealand in 1974), and Kirsten and her family in Kloof, South Africa. The following images are all in New Zealand, and are chiefly snapshots of friends and family, some identified, many who are not. They include groups visiting two houses, The Kinder House in Auckland, and The Elms in Tauranga. One sequence shows the 80th birthday celebrations for Dinah Strang held in a garden near Putararu. Description: Album of photographs, moslty of family and friends, chiefly taken by Rhoda McWhannell. Family and friends include a gathering at the christening of Malcolm McWhannell (son of Joan and John McWhannell), Bill and Kathleen Haines of `The Croft', Wiltshire, England; Elizabeth and Jane Geddis as teenagers; John McIlrea, a very young boy watching shearing; Mike and Jill Carter; and the home of Mrs Mavis Commons. Scenes relating to `Rozel', the farm owned by Frederick and Rhoda McWhannell, include the felling of a huge aspen poplar in 1963, and working with Mr Gerlach, with a trailer filled with bamboo. There is one group of scenes relating to Rhoda McWhannell's brother and his family in the Kloof and Drakensberg Mountains areas of South Africa.
