Description: Shows a blue swallow in flight, painted on thick card cut to the shape of the bird. Note supplied by previous owner on the backing of the item asserts that the bird was issued in 5lb tins of Allsbrooks [Aulsebrooks?] biscuits. However, evidence of a bird shape being contained in a 5lb tin of Aulsebrooks biscuits ca 1935, cannot be confirmed via newspaper or sales catalogues, as at 12 July 2018. Researcher Darian Zam (email 13 July 2018) shows that the image is identical to that used later by Harry Vincent Ltd's Blue Bird confectionery in Britain, possibly as late as the 1950s. That is, the origin may be overseas, rather than New Zealand. If this cardboard shape was issued with a biscuit tin, it is likely to have been tied to the outside, rather than contained within.
