Includes seven watercolour drawings on greeting cards and envelopes to Mr A Brian Scanlan, editor of the Taranaki Herald. Also includes a copy of an illustration for Messenger's book "Children of the forest" (1948?). Includes four monotone wash drawings of scenes from his Paritutu series, 1953-1956, and two photographs (one of one of those original monotone drawings and one additional one).
Includes a newsclipping of an article by Brian Scanlan: "Messenger story colourful". Taranaki herald, 12 March 1983, page 2; a letter of thanks from Messenger to Scanlan, dated 18 January 1961.
Arrangement: Originally stored in plain buckram-covered slip-case - discarded at accession.
