Includes historical source material collected for the history of veterinary practice in New Zealand, submissions on bills before Parliament, papers relating to the establishment of a veterinary college, branch records and records of associated bodies, such as the New Zealand Womens Auxiliary to the Veterinary Profession.

The Association, an affiliate of the World Veterinary Association, was formed in 1923 to represent the interests of veterinary surgeons in legislative matters and conditions of employment, and to encourage research, the development of veterinary services, and education. Including both government and private veterinarians, the Association published journals and other papers, and set up local branches and specialist subcommittees.
