Description: Russian protest poster accusing the Catholic Church and its wealthy religious leaders of opposing the Soviet Union. It shows a caricature of Pope Pius XI standing on sentry duty beside a huge safe in which are housed the "shares of war factories" (labelled in Russian). Blood seeps from under the safe door. The Pope's rifle, shows a "bayonet" in the shape of a crucifix. A typescript English translation of the Russian text is affixed below the image and beside the label on the safe. Along the top edge is a handwritten English translation of the title text: "Pope on guard" A translation of the text below the image is given, as follows: "Churchmen of all shades show themselves as inspirers and organisers of furious badgering against the Soviet Union. The Catholic Church including many of its wealthy members, are shareholders of large undertakings of war industries.
