Wauchop, Bill, 1889-1971

Artist and librarian, born in Christchurch. From around 1911 he exhibited his paintings and took art lessons under A W Walsh. After studying dance in Sydney and Europe from 1920-1922, he began his own school of dance. Produced productions for the Wellington Operatic Society in the 1920s and 1930s. He was also chief librarian at the Parliamentary Library 1924-1954 and president of the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts 1953-1962.
