Art student at Wellington Technical College under James McLaughlan Nairn ca 1890, then taught art at the college himself. Left for Australia at an unknown date aboard the Monowai. Exhibited at the Wellington Art Club in the early 1890s. He was began teaching at the College in 1894 and was still on the staff in 1897.

Description: Shows Post Office Tower (burned down in 1887, Wellington Provincial Council Chambers (built 1872), W & G Turnbull's warehouse and offices, yachts and fishing boats, viewed from the water. Exhibited by the artist at the Wellington Art Club under the title Customhouse Quay in 1894. Since this work was first exhibited in 1894, it is possible that it may have been completed that year from earlier drawings, showing the Post Office tower before it was destroyed.
