Formed in 1937 as the Auckland Provincial Freedom Association, opposed to state control and Ministerial interference in agriculture and industry. Professor Ronald Macmillan Algie resigned his position at Auckland University to become Director of the organisation. Becamse the New Zealand Freedom Association in 1939, and was disbanded in 1943.
