Rivers, William Halse Rivers, 1864-1922

Physician and anthropologist. Took part in the Cambridge Anthropological Expedition to Torres Straits in 1898. Worked with A M Hocart in Melanesia. Published `History of Melanesian Society' in 1914. President of Royal Anthropological Institute from 1921 until his death.
