Description: Details the repairs to the Aurora carried out by Mauger, after the ship had been torn away from its anchorage at Cape Evans, Ross Island Sep 1915. Also describes earlier work, such as the construction of a raft to carry the anchor ashore at Cape Evans. From 1 Mar 1916, the entries record the course of the ship as it headed to New Zealand. Includes diagrams and sketches of damage and repairs, and gives dimensions of the vessel and length of its masts. Also samples of attempt at poetry, and a partial diary of a voyage on an unamed cargo ship crusing in the Central Pacific, 18 Jan-5 Mar 1919. Mauger was carpenter on the Aurora, when it was blown away in September 1915 from its anchorage at Cape Evans, Ross Island, where it was serving to supply the Trans-Antarctic Expedition's Ross Sea Party.
